Business Marketing Consultants – Marketing by Social Media

I've been asked by my boss for a high level plan to market our company to universities. It's a very small company. I'm new and never have had to market before. I don't know where to start as far as a plan? Any suggestions?

Start with your product. What is it? What consulting services do you offer? Once you understand this then determine who in a college or university could benefit from doing business with you. Only then should you start looking at specific target universities.

Most have faculty directories listed on their websites. Go there and pick out those who you think you should be talking to. Call them. But before you do have a very short well thought out approach as you won't have much time. Anything more than a minute is too long UNLESS the person you are talking to starts asking questions about your product. On the first call you need a goal. Usually, you must pique their interest and attempt them to agree to read something you'll send them. This has to be a well designed brochure and you will want to make it clear in the brochure that you'll call back. When you call back attempt to make an appointment to see them. They may say that they aren't the right person. If so, ask who is and start the process with them. Ask if you can mention to use the referrer's name.

OK, you now have the idea

I have a small computer consulting business. I have 1500 to spend marketing my business. What should I do?
