  The odds of you producing a manuscript so good that someone can steal it and then get it published, taking the money, approach zero. The chances of that person being a legitimate literary agent are even less likely.

  ok, "KK", maybe it was just a spelling error, maybe she just thought of the wrong word, i do it all the time, today i miss spelt grateful by accident, so stop critisizing people for spelling one word wrong. everyone does it and it doesn't stop a person from considering getting published. so maybe you should just keep your opinions to yourself, she could have wrote something amazing that she wants to publish for all you know. so yeah, don't judge.

  anyway, in answer to your question, i think copyrighting is just automatic, you can do it just by putting the symbol on your work. i think. i would check on the internet just incase, maybe its something the government does?
