How Much is Standard Payment for Marketing Consulting? I Will be Running the Marketing for Startup.?

The fact that this is a startup may have a great deal to do with your compensation.

In many startups, the firm has limited cash, and your contribution may not be compensated as well as if you were working for a more established business.

The consulting fees mentioned ($60-$200 per hour) are high for two reasons: 1. the level of knowledge/experience of the consultant is high, and 2. the consulting has a business overhead that accounts for perhaps 75% of the gross income.

If you are fairly inexperienced in consulting (by asking this question, that is the assumption I make), and if you do NOT have a consulting business with overhead, then a more legitimate fee to charge is in the range of $20-$35 per hour. (You are a novice consultant, and you will be getting ALL of the money for yourself, not having to pay overhead costs.)

If you pitch a $200 per hour fee to a startup, you will likely be turned down.

The best bet is to use this opportunity as a learning experience, as well as something that you can add to your resume.

Good luck.
