Business Marketing Consultants – Marketing by Social Media

MySpace is probably best suited for viral marketing. Tila Tequilla is a great example of someone that literally made her career based on MySpace. Take a look at her profile and you'll see what I mean. She's brilliant at it.

YouTube is a great way to do viral marketing also. BMW had a great marketing campaign on there that was essentially a series of short action movies. They were so cool that word of mouth got the videos a LOT of views.

Professional sites like LinkedIn are best for networking. These would be for developing B2B contacts were who you know is more important than what you know.

There are many ways to leverage social networking sites for marketing. For starters, build awareness for your brand by engaging in relevant conversations and adding valuable insights to grain credibility. You can do this by starting your own blog, commenting on other blogs and rating and reviewing content as an expert (whether it by via Yahoo Answers, LinkedIn Q&A, newsgroups, discussion lists or forums). There are other reasons to engage with social media as well: driving traffic to your site or improving your search visibility or rankings. I believe the most important reason to engage in social networks is to manage your reputation by addressing issues before they get out of control and generally keeping in touch with online constituents. I've provided a few interesting links below that answer your question in greater detail.
