How do social-cultural environment influences affect marketing activities?

Without getting too technical or having an exact idea on what you are interested in, let's use playing cards as an example for a marketing campaign in the US. Almost everyone has at least one deck of playing cards in their house, and can purchase them just about anywhere. The need for a broad range marketing campaign isn't really necessary (ie Television and Radio ads). Where playing cards get their money from is through special licensing of logos. (ie. cities, tourist sites, I even have a deck of United States Marine Corps playing cards). Most card companies base their marketing and sales pitch to get an exclusive agreement to make the cards for each individual client. In the end…it's all about getting that money!
How does the stock market create social production or wealth?
